Chronic Cold-Pattern Depletion — A Classical Reading Beyond Simple ‘Fatigue’

Feeling unusually cold can be influenced by environment, circulation, nutrition, hormones, medicines or illness. “Cold-pattern depletion” is a Chinese medicine description of a cluster of observations—not a medical diagnosis and not proof of one cause.

Drive
Cold hands and feet, slow mornings, low stamina
Waterway
Puffiness, heaviness or frequent urination
Pressure
Tension, stress flares or colour change in fingers

60-second self-check

Use these questions to organise what you notice. This is a screen only, not a diagnosis.

  1. Is the cold sensitivity new or steadily worsening?
  2. Do fingers change colour, become painful or stay numb?
  3. Are fatigue, weight change, breathlessness or menstrual changes present?
  4. Have possible medical contributors been discussed with your GP?

Sudden one-sided coldness, a pale or blue painful limb, chest pain, fainting or severe breathlessness needs urgent assessment.

Supporting Research

Cold intolerance is non-specific and should be interpreted with the whole clinical picture. Evidence for acupuncture or Chinese medicine approaches depends on the underlying condition and is not definitive. Supportive care should use observable goals and continue indicated medical evaluation.
